About
Let’s level-set right from the start…I have no idea what I am doing. This blog was started on a whim, but I am not a blogger or a writer so a little grace would be appreciated.
I heard somewhere that if you think your story is worth sharing you have to cut the bullshit and be brutally honest with yourself. It is the only way to connect with your audience. So how does one do that? I’ve been told you have to write as if you believe nobody will ever read your words. To be vulnerable, which just so happens to be the one thing I fear the most. So that’s what I am going to do…be vulnerable. Hopefully the years I’ve spent in therapy have prepared me for this journey. I guess we will find out together, if you decide to hang around.
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, specifically Tacoma WA., fondly referred to as Grit City. Although, I have lived in other cities, Tacoma is home. For better or for worse. Although a few movies have been filmed here, Tacoma is probably best known for serial killer, Ted Bundy. It is not a small city but definitely has a small-town vibe. Going out to dinner inevitably ends up being a mini-Class Reunion. Social anxiety keeps me home.
Like Ted, I attended Woodrow Wilson High School and that’s where I will begin my story…fucking high school. Although graduation was 30+ years ago, the 80’s have circled back around to the present to reintroduce me to my past. Who knew that so much of the shit that happened in high school could influence your adulthood? Fucking high school.
“Staying vulnerable is a risk we have to take if we want to experience connection.” – Brené Brown

IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING…
Yes…this is completely non-fiction. The stories told are mine, written from my perspective, and illustrating my thoughts and feelings. Mine. It’s possible not everyone will agree with how a story unfolds and that is ok. They are free to create their own blog and tell the same story from their point-of-view.

DISCLAIMER
This blog is not in anyway affiliated with the 1993 cult-classic film, Dazed and Confused. If you stumbled across this page hoping to find the secret writings of brilliant Matthew McConaughey or the iconic Parker Posey then I am sorry to disappoint. It is my favorite movie though and fairly accurately sums my high school experience.
